Massage Therapies
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is what most people picture when they envision "massage." It can incorporate several types of strokes: the long glide of effleurage, the kneading of petrissage, the percussion of tapotement, cross-fiber friction, compression, and rocking or shaking.
Swedish massage promotes relaxation, increases circulation, and relieves joint stiffness and tension. It has also been shown to decrease stress hormones and to stimulate the immune system.
Neuromuscular Massage
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a specialized form of manual therapy. Through application of static pressure to specific myofascial points, soft tissue tension is released, pain is relieved, and balance is restored to the central nervous system.
This technique is especially effective in addressing imbalances resulting from poor body mechanics while moving or static (i.e., driving, computer keyboard use, golf swing, etc.).
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is just that--massage which focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It can be helpful for chronic pain in very stiff areas, such as the neck and shoulders.
The strokes are similar to those used in Swedish massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated. Clients often report sensations similar to those of a good workout after receiving deep tissue massage. Good client/therapist communication during the session will minimize discomfort, as will proper hydration and post-session gentle stretching.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is for performance enhancement, injury prevention, recovery assistance and rehabilitation. From weekend warriors to professional and Olympic participants, all athletes can benefit from sports massage.
Sports massage can be used at many different times, such as before or after a sporting event, throughout a training period to assist in injury prevention and recovery or as part of an injury treatment/rehabilitation plan.
Benefits include improved circulation, muscle relaxation, freeing of scar tissue, improved focus and alertness, and improved flexibility/range of motion.
Stretch Therapy
Stretch therapy is a form of physical exercise in which a specific muscle or tendon is deliberately flexed or stretched in order to improve the muscle elasticity and achieve comfortable muscle tone. The result is a feeling of increased muscle control, flexibility and range to motion. In fact, stretching has long been a component of fitness training, even though it's commonly an afterthought for your typical gym-goer.
Still, stretch therapy techniques are an important part of functional movement. This is why it deserves dedicated time in your fitness routine.
Spinal Synchronization Massage
Manipulation of the cervical tissue to create a balance in the spinal cord. Perfect for those that suffer from tension headaches, bad posture and overall stress.
Frank's Infusion Massage
Experience Thai stretching followed by a customized massage based on your needs. You will begin on a specialized mattress on the floor. For this part you will need to wear loose fitting clothing. This passive stretching will help open up the body to increase flexibility and relieve tension within the joints and muscles. It can also release emotional tension held within the body, combating stress and providing a feeling of relaxation. This will be followed by a table massage, concentrating on issues identified from the stretching session.
